Services provided

  • Motion Capture Recordings
  • Character Animation

Based on our experience from creating motion capture animation for many interactive projects, we are also providing these services to the film industry and VFX studios. On this page you will see some exemplary work we did for film projects.

In August 2008 we created some elaborately staged character animation for the VFX studio “exozet effects” for the TV movie “Im Spessart sind die Geister los” (Askania Media / Sat.1). A very interesting part of our work was a sword fight sequence between two ghosts. We recorded the performance of two stuntmen at Babelsberg Film Studios in Potsdam and edited/enhanced the raw data in house before we delivered the animations to our client. The biggest challenge in this production was the high level of interaction between two participants of a sword fight, as we had to match the recorded animations to the bone skeletons and proportions of the final 3d characters. Some of the results of our work can be seen in the video clip below:

We have also provided character animation for Roland Emmerich’s motion picture “Anonymous”, coming to cinemas worldwide in fall 2011.

It was a pleasure for us to work for visual effects supervisor Marc Weigert and his renowned VFX studio Uncharted Territory. We were also very happy that they liked our prefab libraries and licensed our “Complete Animals” bundle for usage in their film projects after the recordings.

Another motion capture project that we had a lot of fun with was “The Legend of Dick and Dom” for Red Frog Multimedia Production Ltd. This BAFTA-nominated series is a BBC children's television program and included very entertaining recordings of actors portraying penguins or giant teddy bears. We took our XSens motion capture equipment on a plane and did the recordings at the Pinewood Studios in London – as our system does not require optical markers or cameras, it was very easy to work with obstacles and large props which were required for some of the moves.
