Undoubtedly Motion Capturing is a very efficient way of creating realistic animation for virtual characters in high quality. Rocketbox owns an Xsens MVN (Moven) Motion Capture System of the most recent generation (version 2.5).
We use Motion Capturing in our projects and also offer it as a service. Our customers can choose between different-offerings, depending on their budget and their abilities to work with the recorded motion data. This can start with simple recording sessions only, after which the customer gets the raw motion data - and also range to full service animation production with cleaning, enhancement and adaption of the recorded motions to your 3d characters.
Our animators have their background in traditional keyframe animation - this gives us abilities and knowledge to tweak or exaggerate the recorded motions or hand-animate motions that are not possible to record.
As opposed to optical systems, our Xsens MVN (Moven) MoCap Solution is based on inertial technology. It is a very flexible system - we can even take it with us to our customer, if the recording session should take place at the customer's location.
As the sensors are built into a tight suit, working with props and clothing is very easy (imagine the special movement of a human wearing a heavy backpack for example). Even going outside with the suit is no problem at all, if interaction with objects at special locations is needed.
