Rocketbox Studios GmbH was founded in the year 2002, at a point of time when the game development industry in Germany just started to discover outsourcing of graphics as a way to optimize project development.
The founder of Rocketbox is Markus Wojcik, who was developing computer games since 1993. He was co-owner of Vectorcom Development GmbH before he switched to providing outsourcing services in 2002.
Soon after the foundation of Rocketbox Studios, the art and animation projects we did for our customers became bigger and the team had to grow. In times when the capacity utilization was not at 100%, we started to work on our first prefab graphics library “Complete Characters” in 2004. The idea behind this library was to give developers the possibility to add animated non-player-characters (NPCs) into their virtual worlds quickly and cost-efficiently.
The release of “Complete Characters” in 2005 became a major step in our company progress, as our idea proved to be a very good one: Many companies were enthusiastic about the fact that they did not have to reinvent the wheel – instead they could use our library of rigged and animated character models.
This gave us international recognition as well as access to industries beyond game develop- ment (e.g. simulation, VR, medical, research and architecture).
Until today we are still pursuing these two branches of our business, as they are complementing and cross-fertilizing each other very well.
We are continuously improving and expanding our collection of prefab libraries, which is well-known under the label “Rocketbox Libraries” (www.rocketbox-libraries.com). Our products stand out from those of our competitors though highest quality and hassle-free usability. We develop every asset for our libraries in-house, and we do not sell models from other vendors. This is the only way to guarantee consistency in the graphics and in the standardized systems that we have developed for the rigs and animations. Our main goal is to avoid any stumbling blocks when our client implements the assets into their graphics engines or 3d scenes.
We are a reliable partner for our clients from all over the world when it comes to the creation of custom 3d models and animations for their projects. Using our experience to help our clients making their projects successful and graphically appealing is not only a very satisfactory and fulfilling job. It is also the best way for us to stay up to date with the demands of the industry and always be on the latest state of technology.
